We’ve all been there… freaking out once we’ve washed off our tan because we’re not as bronzed as we had hoped.
Rest assured, this is all part of the tanning process.
This is actually why it is recommended to tan two days before an event, so you have enough time for the tan to develop to its full potential.
Now, I’m here to explain a little bit more in depth as to why you’ll be on this tanning rollercoaster.
-
It’s time to marinate in your tan
Right after application and while marinating in your fresh tan, you’re going to feel like a bronzed Goddess!
This is because majority of the tan solutions on the market contain bronzers which give you the tanned effect after freshly applying tan.
Tanning solutions are typically invisible, so adding bronzers helps to create a seamless application; This means no streaking and no untanned spots on the body because you’re unsure if you’ve tanned that spot or not.
-
It’s time to wash off the tan
After your first rinse, you will feel like you’ve just washed all your tan away and like the tan hasn’t done its job properly. This is all part of the tanning process!
The reason you’re going to feel pale is because you’ve just washed off the bronzers and are now left with the DHA that’s continuing to develop on your skin.
DHA is the active that chemically reacts with proteins on the skins surface and gives you the tan you’re longing for. DHA needs up to 48 hours on the skin to reach its full colour potential. This is why it’s always recommended you tan two days before your event.
-
24-48 hours post wash off
After waiting 24-48 hours after your first rinse, your jaw will be in the floor with how bronzed you are.
This is because the DHA active in tanning solutions has now had enough time to reach its full potential.
DHA begins invisible, then after reacting with your skin, it creates the gorgeous bronze glow you’re now seeing.
Now you’re educated on why you’re feeling these feels right after you’ve washed off your tan, you can tan without freaking out!
Happy tanning xx
